If Climate Change is Existential Threat Then Why Did Democrat Presidential Candidates Vote Present on Green Deal?

Isn’t it strange that the Democrat senators running for president, saying climate change is an existential threat, didn’t vote for the New Green Deal which would immediately address the “existential threat?”
