When Israel was fleeing from Egypt during the Exodus, the sea level was rising because the Ice Age was ending, the flooding which consumed stone structures built by the Canaanites, ruins discovered off the coast at Byblos, Sidon, Tyre, and Haifa (Atlit Yam) the clear proof. Imagine the despair of the Canaanites seeing their work consumed by the sea, and the land drying out, because the Ice Age was ending, not to mention the prospect of the multitudinous Israelites soon to come in from the east.
