Cornered by the question would they make private healthcare illegal in their single-payer legislation, the Democrats on Capitol Hill now are forced to say no, yet of course that would defeat the purpose of the single-payer plan, so the next question to them should be how many would they allow to pick private, and on what basis would they preclude people from going the private healthcare route? So isn’t the obvious solution nationwide competition among the insurance companies and among the healthcare service providers with provision for those uninsurable to be subsidized by the government?
