A son of Japheth (Iapetus) was Javan (Ion/Ionians) whose son Elisha was patriarch of the Hellenes, perhaps first settled for the copper on the island which became known as Alishiya, or Kupros, now called Cyprus, during the Ice Age so submerged ruins could found in the surrounding waters.
