Very interestingly, terra as in terra firma and terrestrial means dried out, of the same Indo European (japthetic) etymological root ter as in torrent, and as in dry, by the ancient knowledge that torrents of water rushed off the separating continents at the close of Noah’s Flood circa 2350 b. c.
