The Republicans in the House obviously were not working hard on wall budgeting until president Trump on Tuesday said the U. S. military will build the wall, so faced with the embarrassment of that potential eventuality, and Trump’s stated intention to veto any infrastructure bill from the next Congress which would not include wall funding, the House Republicans don’t want to all be seen dead wood to be voted out in the 2020 Republican primaries. Trump is in the catbird’s seat, waiting to see if this Congress or the next will fund the border-security-wall, but if not, the military budget will fund it, national defense a good thing, and a winning issue for the president going into his reelection in 2020.
