The great stone fortresses of Sardinia called nuraghe or talayots on the Balearic islands (off the coast of eastern Spain) were begun built about the time that the Ice Age was ending, and continued being built on a larger scale thereafter for several centuries, as defensive structures of clans to ward-off invaders who were scrambling as the islands (and mainland) dried even further in the aftermath of the Ice Age (when the sea level risen had consumed much land). Plato wrote that the empire of Atlantis extended to the Tyrrhenian sea where is Sardinia, so those nuraghe and talayot builders were probably Atlanteans of its eastern realm, retreated inland so submerged ruins down there?
