During the Ice Age, there were as many as seven islands which now are submerged banks just west of the Straits of Gibraltar, extending up to a hundred miles to the west, and Plato wrote (in Timaeus) that those islands were the gateway to the continent beyond the western ocean (the Atlantic), which Plato wrote was the real ocean while the Mediterranean just a harbor off of it, all this born out on the Piri Reis Map showing the eastern coastline of the western hemisphere at proper longitudes attainable anciently by only the accurate measure of the precession rate of the earth’s axis.
