Several centuries before Plato, the historians Hesiod and Homer wrote about Atlas, far to the west where he was the king of seafaring in the region of the mountains named for him, portrayed as a Titan, he was an astronomer and mapper supreme (see Page at right Great Pyramid for Navigation).
