The legend about Hotu Matua’s voyage to Easter Island from Hiva land (what’s left of that land the Marquesas islands), because the “rising tide” was consuming the homeland, is clearly bespeaking the end of the Ice Age (circa 1500 b. c.), when megalithic building was brought to Easter Island and so megalithic building should be expected offshore the Marquesas as they are found onshore.
