Progeny of Kush (who was a son of Ham and grandson of Noah) moved eastwardly or southwesterly from Kish in Mesopotamia after the Tower of Babel, some to the region of the Hindu Kush mountains where they established the Indus Valley Civilization with cities such as now submerged Kushasthali, and some to eastern Africa where the kingdom of Kush was Egypt’s neighbor to the south, also known as Ethiopia, named for Ityopis, a son of Kush.
