The Mexica tribe, later known as the Aztecs, abandoned where today is the U. S. southwest a thousand years ago to move to the central valley of Mexico, the name Aztec for the region from which they departed, Aztlan, their language Nahuatl so obviously Atlan was not Aztlan, Atlan across the Atlantic ocean, known as Atland to the Frisians and Atlantis to the Greeks.
