Presumably senator Ted Cruz was trying to coax the purple-tie (establishment) Republicans to go along with the Tea Party positions on a tax plan and healthcare reform in saying that if the Republicans don’t achieve these there will be a bloodbath awaiting them in the 2018 midterm elections, but actually that would cause the recalcitrant Republican congresspersons to be voted out in the primaries by Tea Party types who then would more-than-likely dominate in the match-ups against the Democrats, because many patriotic Democrats are moving to the Republican side.
