Oaks and pines with carob and olive trees dominated the hilly landscape of the Promised Land during the Ice Age, reflected in the pollen change noted in core samples taken from floor of the Sea of Galilee, but that all changed, barely higher (younger) in the core samples pollen indicating the change to plant-life from a semi-arid climate regime, as it has remained since circa 1200 b. c. (the time of the Judges).
