The legendary Flood of Ogyges, as well the Flood of Dardanus, were surely known to Plato, for he cited Dardanus’ son Erichthonios having lived in the timeframe that great Atlantis and much of Greece were consumed by the sea, so that he repeated the Egyptian priests notion without challenge that it was nine thousand years before Solon’s time (circa 600 b. c.), back to 9600 b. c., is certainly puzzling because the legendary kings Dardanus and Ogyges, documented to have begun dynasties, lived circa 1400 b. c.
