Many reports are coming out of Charlottesville that the police cancelled their agreed upon security measures, for instance to keep the rival protesters separated, but instead the police funneled the protesters for the statue into the park between hordes of angry bottle-throwing counter-protesters, giving the distinct impression that the police were fomenting the violence.
