Wikipedia posits several theories for the origin of the name Amazons, none of the theories the obvious that it’s from Amazigh (perhaps meaning noble people), the ancient name of the Berbers of North Africa where Amazon queen Myrina ruled at ice age Lake Tritonis which had begun to dry-up circa 1500 b. c., abandoned by the Amazon tribe led by queen Myrina circa 1400 b. c. when they headed west to battle a remnat of the Atlanteans at Cerne and the Gorgons nearby until they ventured far to the east and then north to begin a new life in western Anatolia and the Black Sea region.
