Wikipedia has a nice compendium of the Amazons in greek history, that circa 1200 b. c. they came to the rivers Thermodon and Iris (the city Amasya built beside it) of the Black Sea basin from the Caicus river of western Turkey which flows into the Aegean where is the island of Lesbos, its chief city Mitylene built by the Amazons, having migrated though the Levant and Egypt before that from Lake Tritonis of southern Tunisia, all but dried up when Jason and the Argonauts were there circa 1300 b. c.., about two hundred years after the Ice Age began to end.
