It’s sensible to think that the ancients, immediately after Noah’s Flood, were curious to see where were the new bounds of the ocean and the configuration of the land-masse in the post Flood world, so it’s really not surprising that they sailed all over the world, even to Antarctica (see the Oronteus Finnaeus and Piri Reis maps) where they charted the mountain ranges now thousands of feet under snow and ice, because the snow blitz in the aftermath of Noah’s Flood had yet to cover Antarctica circa 2200 b. c.
