The thermal state of the ocean is seldom considered by the global warming alarmists, what can cause the ocean to warm or cool? The obvious is that the surface of the ocean heats in the summer and cools in the winter because of changes in atmospheric temperature, but notice they never talk about seafloor volcanism through extrusion cones and fissures (rift zones) in the seafloor around the world, difficult to measure, yet potentially the greater cause of changes in ocean temps. So question your professors and other global warming alarmists in government and in chat rooms, make sure that they are aware that for instance the Ice Age was caused by the ocean warmer, obviously having been heated from below, simple hydrology, that which the global warming alarmists predictably ignore in their zeal.
