When the Roman general Regulus brought from the Bagrada river of Tunisia to the Roman senate the skin of a 120 foot long reptile killed, you can bet it was big news in Rome, reported by Cassius Dio and reprinted in Pliny the Elder’s book of Natural History in which are reported also the “dragons” of India having battled the elephants. The Bible in the book of Job speaks of the great creature Behemoth in the Jordan river almost two millennia before the Romans, Job in the Land of Uz named for a son of Aram only a few centuries after Noah’s Flood.
