If president Trump has been successfully gathering evidence sufficient to prosecute some of his leading political opponents (about for instance human trafficking), they may have been made aware of this, and have realized that their only hope is to cooperate with Trump on legislation lest he drop the hammer, such intimidation perhaps evidence already in Trump’s political opponents telling each other to back away from the impeachment talk which was reaching fever pitch.
