The origin of the name of Italy is said to be uncertain, that it’s perhaps for the Greek king Italus who sailed to the southwest coast (Calabria) after the Trojan War, yet Plato wrote that Atlantis extended to the Tyrrhenian Sea off the west coast of Italy, thus that Italy (Italia) is probably named for Atlantis and Italus which is very close to Atlas (grandson of Canaan) who was a god in the Greeks’ pantheon.
