The Egyptians and the Hittites were greatly diminished soon after the Israelites invaded the Promised Land under Joshua (Yehoshua), because rainfall had drastically diminished when the Ice Age ended, while the highlands of the Promised Land a veritable oasis compared to the surrounding lowlands gone mostly to desert, thus that the Philistines fought for that land.
