At his press conference today concerning the ceasefire between Turkey and the Kurds, president Trump noted that “all forms of the Kurds have been fighting against Turkey for decades,” noting too that the commander of the SDF Kurds is thankful for the arrangement with the safe zone having been worked out. U. S. forces will remain to guard the oil fields in eastern Syria, to keep Turkey, Russia, and Iran from taking them, so the Kurds will probably be given ownership of those fields, at least as a bargaining chip.
