Mexico had probably calculated that president Trump would not want to jeopardize the passage of the USMCA trade agreement by insisting on more help securing the southern border of the U. S., but that calculation is proven wrong by Trump’s new tariff on Mexican goods announced tonight (Thursday), 5% effective June 10th, increasing to 10% July 10th, etc., until Mexico will have come into cooperation.
