China imports only about $100 billion worth of products from the U. S. which in turn imports about $600 billion worth from China, so president Trump has much more leverage in the tariff battle because the U. S. has a long way to go for trade parity (or better) while the Chinese are already on the verge of completely shutting-out U. S. imports, which surely disappoints China’s citizens too.
