Thinking no one was hearing except the reporter to whom he said this is off the record, Kansas U. S. senator Pat Roberts said Kris Kobach (checkout his resume!) could not be confirmed by the Senate to lead the Department of Homeland Security, although the Senate is controlled by the 53 Republicans, so this will be a litmus test for the Republicans who are up for reelection in 2020 (lest they be primaried), excepting Pat Roberts who is retiring, whether they confirm Kris Kobach or face defeat.
