The progeny of Ham’s son Canaan (see Genesis 10) were delineated as tribes, all the “ites” such as the Hamathites and the Arvadites, and that Hamath (Hama, Syria) was the home base of the Hamathites proves that Arvad was a person too, as were Jebus, Amor, and the rest. Another son of Ham was Misr, Misor in the phoenician records, who was the father of Athothis (Thoth), in Genesis 10 the Misraim.
