In July polling by Gallup nationally, 45% of the voting public is registered Independent, 28% Democrat, and 25% Republican, almost half of the electorate claiming no party affiliation, an astounding number, yet those will have to choose between Republican or Democrat candidates in upcoming 2018 elections, making the likelihood quite good that many Democrats will continue to crossover.
