In egyptian records during the time of the Judges, the tribe of Asher was mentioned, the Aseru, who two centuries later were known as the Weshesh, among the Sea Peoples who invaded Egypt because of the catastrophic climate change during the centuries following the Ice Age. The tribe of Asher dwelled along the coast of the Promised Land from Dor up to Sidon where lived the Sidonians, great seafarers from whom many of Asher learned that skill.
