Classical Greeks were aware of the world to which they frequented, in Plato’s day not much beyond the Mediterranean coastal regions, so when Plato wrote that greater Atlantis was larger than Asia and Libya combined, he was talking about the Mediterranean coastline of Turkey, the Levant, Egypt, and Libya compared to the coastal empire of Atlantis of the western Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic.
